MOVING HOSPITAL ACCREDITATION AHEAD. TOGETHER.

U.S. hospitals and other institutions will have access to a single, comprehensive set of cardiovascular accreditation services through a new, exclusive collaboration between the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Heart Association (AHA).

WHAT IS IT?

Starting in 2017, U.S. hospitals will have access to a comprehensive suite of co-branded accreditation services designed to optimize patient outcomes and improve hospital financial performance. These services will be focused on all aspects of cardiac care, including chest pain, cardiac catheterization, atrial fibrillation, heart failure and other cardiovascular conditions. In addition to offering disease-specific accreditations, a multi-faceted cardiac accreditation program will be developed by this collaboration to enable hospitals and health systems to achieve the highest standard of cardiac care for all patients.

WHY ACC and AHA?

This new collaboration reflects the ACC and AHA’s shared goals of transforming care and helping people live longer, healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases. Both organizations have worked together for more than 30 years to develop cardiovascular clinical guidelines and translate those guidelines into programs and services that shape clinical care and improve patient outcomes. This new collaboration builds upon these efforts and leverages the ACC and the AHA’s collective expertise and resources to accelerate the scope and positive impact of accreditation on cardiovascular patient care.

PROGRAM BENEFITS

By joining together, we have a real opportunity to help hospitals accelerate the quality of cardiovascular care for all patients and improve their financial performance in ways we can’t do alone.

The ACC and AHA are committed to reducing duplication and confusion in the marketplace and providing hospitals with a single source for state-of-the-art accreditation services. These services will enhance quality and optimize patient outcomes and hospital financial performance by integrating the very latest evidence-based science and ACC/AHA guidelines into a comprehensive suite of accreditation services that support health care institutions’ cardiovascular care needs.

This collaboration will create a single gold standard for the highest quality of cardiovascular care that patients can easily recognize when choosing their hospital.
